What do I need to access your Internet service?
The minimum required IT equipment is:
- PC: Windows 98 NE, 2000, NT or ME
- Apple Macintosh: System 8 or higher
- Internet connection: Modem, ISDN card, ADSL connection or cable
Can I check my Diners Club e-mail box without connecting to the portal (using a program like Outlook Express or Eudora)?
No. You can only check your e-mail box on the Diners Club portal.
Which browser do I have to use?
For best results we recommend Netscape Communicator 4.7 or higher or Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
Why does my browser give me error messages when I try to access secure pages?
Your browser's SSL protocol is not active. When you update the browser, the SSL protocol becomes active automatically. To update Internet Explorer, connect to http://www.microsoft.com or to update Netscape, go to http://www.netscape.com.
I am using a recommended browser, but I still get the message "The page cannot be displayed".
There are three possible reasons:
- The page may not be loaded correctly. Try pressing the button "Refresh" (Internet Explorer) or "Reload" (Netscape).
- Check that you have written the address (URL) of the page correctly.
- Maybe your Internet Provider is unable to connect with the Diners Club server. Call your Provider and make sure that they are able to contact our server.
I am using a recommended browser and it is configured correctly, but I still get a completely blank screen.
There are three options:
- The page may not be loaded correctly. Try pressing the "Refresh" button (Internet Explorer) or "Reload" (Netscape).
- It may be a problem with your browser's cache. You need to empty it. To do this with Internet Explorer 4.0, click on "View" > ">"Internet Options" > "Delete Files" > "OK" and finally again on "OK". With Internet Explorer 5.0. click on "Tools" > "Internet Options" > "Delete Files" > "OK" and finally again on "OK". With Netscape Communicator, click on "Edit" > "Preferences" > double click on "Advanced" > "Cache" > "clear disk cache" and "clear memory cache" > "OK" to close.
- If your computer is in a network, it is possible that the settings do not allow you to see the screen correctly. Check the network settings in the Control Panel (for expert users only).
I have already logged in, but the browser is again asking me for my user name and password or I get the message that "This page has timed out".
To optimize the connection and protect sessions from browser use, the protected pages have a "timeout" (that depends on the server). When this time has expired, you must log in again.
What precautions can I adopt to make access to the Internet service more secure?
- Never reveal your personal access codes.
- Change your password frequently. Remember to close the session any time you move away from your computer.
- Always use the latest version of the browser
How do you guarantee the security of my information that is accessible via or that I filled in on the website of Diners Club?
Diners Club, as operator of one of the main international credit card circuits, has considerable experience with security. To ensure the highest degree of security for the information traveling on the Web, Diners Club has requested and obtained a Verisign certificate (the leading Certification Authority in the Internet world) and adopted a system of 128-bit ciphering. The use of a 128-bit cipher key guarantees the maximum level of security to protect the mutual exchange of information. Indeed it would take a virtually infinite amount of time to decipher such a key. The Diners Club Sim employs the usual Username/Password combination to allow LOGIN or admission to the system. After login, all communications are encrypted to make it more difficult to intercept the information, preserve the integrity of the data, and guarantee the confidentiality of the messages. All this is achieved by a 128-bit SSL cryptography procedure, certified by Secure Socket Layer (SSL), strong encryption issued by the Verisign Certification Authority. You will also receive a PIN code that will allow you to securely authenticate every operation involving your personal account.
Can I review my transactions online?
Certainly. Simply go to the website reserved to Diners Club Card holders, login and review your statements online.
How can I change my password I filled in when I registered?
